City Paramedic Taken To Hospital After Crash

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― A city paramedic was taken a local hospital this afternoon when an emergency vehicle was involved in an accident in Brookline.

The crash happened near Pioneer Avenue and Brookline Boulevard.

Officials say the paramedic who was driving was trying to avoid hitting a car with its door open. But the crash was unavoidable, knocking the medic unit into the side of a church.

The emergency vehicle was transporting a patient at the time of the accident, but that person was not hurt in the crash and continued on to the hospital in another vehicle.

The paramedic was taken to Mercy Hospital with unknown injuries.
