Man Shot, Killed In Braddock

BRADDOCK (KDKA) ― Allegheny County Police are investigating after a young man was found shot to death this morning on the streets of Braddock.

Officials say the shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. Saturday along Margaretta Avenue.

"This morning the body of a young black male was found," said Assistant Superintendent of Allegheny County police, Jim Morton. "The victim was found about 20 yards up the alley."

Based on the evidence gathered so far, investigators say they believe the shooting was the result of a running gunfight with individuals using military-grade assault weapons.

Officials are identifying the victim as 23-year-old Radee Berry, of Braddock.

"It was pretty well heated," said Morton.  "By the number of shell casings there were two to three more people involved in this shootout."

Police say an AR-15, which is a civilian version of an M-16 was taken from the crime scene.

Meanwhile, friends of the victim say the violence has to be stopped.

"I'm 29-years-old. All my friends are dead, every last one of them. We go out to the bar and there are no men; it's all women. Why… Why… because they're either all dead or in prison," said Keisha Sails.

"This doesn't make any sense," she added. "Nobody's going to do anything; they're just going to sit back."

Allegheny County police need your help solving this murder.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the homicide unit at (412) 473-1301.
