The community came together today in Westmoreland County to help a Boy Scout troop after thousands of aluminum cans they collected for a project were stolen.
Police are still trying to find out who stole the aluminum cans collected by the Boy Scouts of Troop 230 in Harrison City.
The troop's recycle project, being kept on church property, was broken into and $2,000 worth of aluminum cans were stolen.
They were collecting the cans to help raise money for a summer camp and also for an environmental project.
Today, many residents around the area gathered to donate money and collect more cans for the project.
"We went down this morning, when we were rebuilding the area back up, - there were already four large plastic bagfuls of aluminum cans for us - we have crushed them," said the troop's leader Greg Benson. "I've gotten a few phone calls for financial donations as well."
The Boy Scouts say they plan to continue raising funds for their summer camp.
