Episcopal Church To Vote On Fate Of Pgh. Bishop

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― The Episcopal Church is deciding the fate of Pittsburgh Bishop Robert Duncan.

A vote is set to be taken on Thursday at a meeting of the Episcopal House of Bishops in Salt Lake City, Utah, on whether to remove him from ministry.

Bishop Duncan has been at the center of a controversial decision in his diocese on whether or not to secede from the Episcopal Church. That vote is set for next month.

"I have been aware for some while that the Episcopal Church has been bringing charges forward to attempt to remove me," said Duncan. "Again, I have stood as the leader of the opposition in the Episcopal Church since 2003 when it was for the first time that the Episcopal Church stepped over the line in terms of historic faith and order by approving the ordination of a partnered same-sex bishop."

A vote on whether the Pittsburgh diocese will split from the national Episcopal Church is scheduled for early next month.
