A funeral service was held today for McKees Rocks native and famous television pitchman Billy Mays.
He passed away last Friday at his home in Florida from an apparent heart attack.
The service was held this morning at St. Mary Church in McKees Rocks.
Hundreds were in attendance, some wearing Mays' trademark blue shirt and khaki pants to honor their friend.
"I don't feel like he's left us," said Professor Amos Clyde, one of Mays' friends. "He'll be with us for a long time cause he left us with something special; the enthusiasm, the power, the belief that you can achieve if you only believe."
On Thursday, hundreds more gathered for Mays' visitation at the Musmanno Funeral Home in McKees Rocks. Instead of memorial cards, people who came were given stickers with Mays picture on them.
Mays partner on the television show, "Pitchmen," Anthony Sullivan, talked about his co-hosts upbeat personality, his work ethic and his love for his hometown.
"He's got a lot of people that he touched," said Sullivan. "He loved McKees Rocks; he loved Pittsburgh. He was a Steeler [fan]. I'm gonna miss him greatly."
Meanwhile, Mays' son said he's been talking to many of his father's fans.
"The last few days, I've just been trying to talk to every fan, take every story I could get. I want to make sure we get through this," said Billy Mays, III. "He is loved."
The funeral service was followed by a private burial.
