Family, friends and fans of TV Pitchman Billy Mays turned out to say goodbye.
The streets around Musmanno Funeral Home in McKees Rocks, Mays' hometown, were blocked to parkers well before the visitation began.
"In the last few days I've been just trying to talk to every fan, take every story I could get and just give every story I could and that's it I want to make sure that we get through this and he was loved, still is loved," Billy Mays, III, Mays' son, said.
Mays gained national fame pitching products such as Oxi Clean, Kaboom and Mighty Mendit, but those who knew him say he never forgot where he came from.
"He's got a lot of people that he touched and he loved McKees Rocks, he loved Pittsburgh, he was a Steeler [fan], when he bled he definitely would bleed black and gold," Anthony Sullivan, from "Pitchmen," a show on the Discovery Channel that he co-hosted with Mays.
"And I'm going to miss him greatly. We spent the last six months together pretty much everyday and he just he could never say no to anybody, he always wanted to fulfill his obligations," he added.
The people of McKees Rocks say they will miss him. They told KDKA that when Mays would visit, he would walk up and down the street and stop at all the businesses to let everybody know he was home.
"It's a very sad day in McKees Rocks that he's gone and everyone just loved him," Barb Heckert, owner of Theresa's Bakery, said.
Mays' funeral will be held Friday.
