Billy Mays Remembered In Hometown

McKEES ROCKS (KDKA) ― As the investigation into the death of TV pitchman and Pittsburgh native Billy Mays continues, people in his hometown of McKees Rocks are remembering him fondly.

Police say Mays, 50, was found dead at his Tampa home early Sunday morning by his wife and foul play is not suspected.

The night before his death Mays was on a US Airways flight that made a hard landing – blowing out the plane's two front tires. Moments later, Mays told reporters something hit him on the head during the rough landing.

"All of a sudden as we hit, you know, it was just the hardest hit, all the things from the ceiling started dropping. It hit me on the head, but I got a hard head," Mays told a Florida television station after getting off the flight.

An autopsy is scheduled to determine exactly how Mays died.

In the meantime, Mays' brother says his death will be felt by more than just his family.

"He was funny, loving, but gentle. And I would say, in the church we have a term, 'the gift of giving.' He had the gift of giving," Randy Mays told KDKA. "He gave not only of himself, but of his resources, of his time. God broke the mold with my brother."
