A former president will be in our area today to help kick off a convention in downtown Pittsburgh.
Former President Bill Clinton will be paying a visit to Pittsburgh tonight.
Clinton is the keynote speaker for the Netroots Nation Convention downtown at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.
Netroots Nation is one of the largest groups of bloggers in the world.
According to a posting on the group's website,
NetrootsNation.org, organizers got the idea to invite the former president after reading about a recent discussion Clinton had with a small group of bloggers, "ranging from the environment to health care to the role of today's new progressive era."
"Reading about this meeting got us to thinking," the posting continues. "What if President Clinton came to Netroots Nation to discuss this new progressive era? After all, governance and grassroots activism is a huge focus of our convention this year."
President Clinton will address the attendees at the fourth annual conference later tonight.
He's expected to begin speaking shortly after 9pm.
