A neighborhood in Beaver Falls is on edge after a husband and wife were found murdered in the basement of their home.
Richard Harper and Demetria Harper, both 32, were shot execution style in the 800-block of Second Avenue.
Beaver Falls Police were called to the scene at about 11:30 a.m. after a relative found the victims in the basement.
Sources close to the investigation tell KDKA two girls, ages 10 and 8, were apparently locked in a room upstairs by the assailants.
The children are staying with relatives. Police say they could hold the key to solving the murders.
"It's a very delicate situation but it's very crucial to the investigation and they were interviewed," Beaver Falls Police Chief Charles Jones said.
Tony Walker was a friend of the Harpers. He, like so many others, stood watching in disbelief as police processed the crime scene.
"I'd be scared right now about .. something like that happening to me around here because I never thought it would happen to him .. but down in this area anyway for a guy like him - he was well-liked by everybody," he said.
So far, police have not revealed a possible motive and there are no suspects.
