Barden: Casino Construction Remains On Schedule

PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) ― Casino developer Don Barden has told the State Gaming Control Board that construction of the Majestic Star Casino on the North Shore is on schedule.

Barden said he is still working with lenders, to complete the $780 million in refinancing for the project.

The board must approve the refinancing plan once it's completed.

Barden's company began construction with a $200 million bridge loan back in December. About two-thirds of the building's steel structure is already erected on the city's North Shore.

The casino is scheduled to open in may of 2009.
