Man Arrested In Ambridge Sword Attack

Vernon Bridges is facing attempted murder charges after allegedly stabbing a neighbor with a sword that looked like a cane during an argument Thursday.

A Beaver County man is facing attempted murder charges after he allegedly stabbed a neighbor with a sword that was hidden inside a cane.
According to police, Ronald Book, 49, returned home drunk Thursday. An argument began between Book and his son outside their apartment in Ambridge.
A neighbor, Vernon Bridges, overheard the argument and confronted the men.
Book then kicked Bridges, who in turn pulled out a sword that looked like a cane and stabbed Book in the stomach.
He then tried to attack Book with a baseball bat.
Book was transported to an area hospital where he is reportedly in critical condition.
