Route 51 Opens After Truck Accident, Fuel Spill

ALIQUIPPA (KDKA) ― Drivers in Beaver County faced major back-ups after a truck hit a jersey barrier, spilling more than 130 gallons of fuel.

Police say the accident happened at about 9 a.m. when the truck driver tried to make a sharp right turn off of the Aliquippa-Ambridge Bridge onto northbound Route 51.

According to officials, the truck driver kept going after hitting the barrier, leaking fuel for about a half a mile. Police and firefighters redirected traffic while Hazmat crews worked to clean up the mess.
