Mom Accused In Poisoning Back In Court On Thursday

Amber Brewington will be back in court on Thursday for a competency hearing before a judge

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― The woman from Tennessee, accused of attempting to poison her young son with salt water, was in court today for a preliminary hearing.

Amber Brewington is facing charges of criminal attempted homicide.

Earlier this month, the 4-month-old boy was brought to Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh from Tennessee for treatment.

Officials say his condition did improve after he was transferred, but then suddenly declined when Brewington came to visit him.

Authorities say they believe Brewington tried to give her son a salt water solution while he was undergoing treatment.

Police say they found salt, a syringe and a drink solution in Brewington's backpack.

The boy continues to recover.

Meanwhile, Brewington will be back in court on Thursday afternoon for a competency hearing before a judge.
