DEP Tests Water After Oil Slick On Allegheny River

MILLVALE (KDKA) ― The Department of Environmental Protection responded to an oil slick on the Allegheny River in Millvale.

Helen Humphries tells KDKA that they went to several locations, including where Girty's Run empties into the river.

Crews took samples and found there was a slight indication of residual petroleum.

However, Humphries says it was hard to find anything substantial so there's a chance that whatever was in there may have washed out.

The DEP plans to return in the daylight tomorrow to do more tests. In the meantime, there appears to be nothing to indicate any sort of direct threat.
