LATROBE (KDKA) ― Mallory and Mackenzie, ages three and one, are adorable little girls, but to their Uncle Ronnie, they're everything.

"They're the love of my life," Ronnie Ulishney says. "They are the love of my life. I mean it's amazing how happy they make me. They help me. As little as they are, they're patient with me and there's things they help me out with that I can't do that I try to do."

Ulishney was born with Spina Bifida and is paralyzed from the waist down.

"It was hard when I was younger, but I figure I'm here for a purpose," Ronnie says. "I don't let it bother me no more and I actually look at it as if I don't have a disability more or less."

Ronnie's sister-in-law, Shannon Ulishney, the girls' mom, nominated him for the 50 Years, 50 Families program.

"He has such a positive outlook on life and you would never know he has exceptionality," Shannon says. "He gives so much to other people that I just thought it would be great that he would finally get something."

Ronnie works part time in the business office for an ambulance service in Greensburg and he used to be a volunteer firefighter and hopes to do that again, but for now he collects firefighter memorabilia.

Ronnie has had the same bed and mattress since he was a child, and would love an actual bedroom set. So Ronnie was presented with a $3,000 gift certificate to Roomful Express.

Before Ronnie was told that he is a winner, he told us he would rather see other people happier than himself. But this time it's Ronnie's turn.
