Construction Causes Major Delays On I-279

Traffic was backed up on I-279 for miles due to construction Saturday.

A massive traffic jam was caused by construction on I-279 Saturday that had some motorists sitting still for up to two hours.
Earlier Saturday, traffic was at a standstill. It was a giant parking lot. Motorists who traveled on I-279 near Wexford and Franklin Park were lucky to be able to drive faster than 10 miles per hour.
Traffic was backed up for miles in the northbound lanes with delays of up to two hours.
One person called KDKA and said the delay caused them to miss a wedding.
There have been many traffic delays due to construction recently, but Saturday's delays may have been the worst of the construction season.
As of 7 p.m. there was hardly a car on the road.
KDKA-TV's Paul Martino talked to PennDot and they said that they are done for the weekend in that area and there should not be any more big delays.
