No Port Authority Strike For Now

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― There will not be a Port Authority bus drivers strike for now.

Union leaders and Port Authority management are looking over a report prepared by a state-appointed fact-finder.

If both sides do not approve of the fact-finders recommendations there could be a drivers walkout.

Sources tell KDKA's Marty Griffin neither side likes the report but all of the back and forth could take at least a month. At that point, union leaders say a strike is a real possibility.

Sources tell KDKA that on the critical issue of healthcare, the state-appointed fact-finder recommends no employee receiving post-retirement health care unless they are 60 years old with 30 years service to the Port Authority.

Union leaders say they will never accept that.

Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato says he does not wish to negotiate this contract in the media although he has said all along he will fix Port Authority.
