Local Oral Surgeon Accused Of Sexual Assault
Dentist's Attorney: Allegations Are 'Bizarre'
MT. LEBANON (KDKA) ―
A local oral surgeon is accused of sexually assaulting several female patients.
Police have issued an arrest warrant for Dr. Robert Boyda, Jr., who has offices in Scott Township and Robinson Township.
He's facing charges including indecent assault, corruption of minors and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse.
Three girls claim they were assaulted in the Scott Township location while a fourth girl says it happened in the North Fayette office.
According to police records, Boyda allegedly assaulted the four victims between August of 2006 and as recently as last week.
All four victims say it happened while they were under anesthesia having their wisdom teeth removed. They say they were slipping in and out of consciousness and they had no control of their bodies.
All of them claim the dentist exposed himself and sexually abused them.
Sources tell KDKA Boyda plans to turn himself in to County Police early Thursday morning.
No one answered the door at Boyda's Mt. Lebanon home.
The dentist's defense attorney, Bill Difenderfer, spoke with KDKA's Paul Martino.
"The allegations are bizarre. It's obviously not true. It'll be pretty easy to prove innocence," he said.
Difenderfer also questions the credibility of the alleged victims saying they were under anesthesia.
Acquaintances of Boyda who spoke off-camera tell KDKA they are stunned by the allegations, saying he is a good guy who is not capable of carrying out a sexual assault.
They say he's also a married father of three and is involved in youth sports.
Stay with KDKA for the latest developments.
