KD Country: G-20 'Coverage'

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― KDKA-TV's Dave Crawley composed a poem for the upcoming G-20 Summit in Pittsburgh later this week.

The Big Shots are coming! They soon will be here!
The spotlight's on us, as the moment draws near.
We will host countries and regions aplenty.
Add them all up and it comes to...gee, twenty.

A moment for bathing our city in glory!
But what's the best way to "cover" this story.
Our "coverage" starts with the Hilton Hotel.
Cover it! Please! That joint looks like

Help has arrived. But what is that? A tarp?
A great big old grey thing. But no need to carp.
Beautiful? No, but how could we mind it,
Compared with the stuff that's tucked in behind it.

On that same subject, Mount Washington's ledge:
Let's cover that eyesore once known as "The Edge."
As a Stimulus topic it's worthy of cheers.
It's been "shovel ready" for 29 years.

Speaking of coverage, what can be found
To cover that Stanwix Street hole in the ground?
We may grow to love that North shore connector. For now, though, it's clearly an unsightly sector.
When G-20 people are done with their talking,
Delegates may just be up for some walking.
We'll share Market Square! The perfect deduction!
Hey, who picked this moment to start new construction?

Who cares if we host international powers?
They'll only be with us for 24 hours.
They'll see the airport, hotel room and car -
The place where they meet, then adjourn to the bar.

Dave Crawley reporting. and I guarantee it:
The stuff that we'd "cover?" They're not going to see it.
