LAWRENCEVILLE (KDKA) ― Nearly 150 years of history went on the auction block today as Iron City Brewing sold equipment left behind when bottling moved to Latrobe.

The Iron City beer can still towers over Lawrenceville, but when Pitttsburgh Brewing moved its bottling operation to Latrobe, the 147-year-old building stood silent.

Silent except for the patter of the auctioneer, small brewery operators and others bid on equipment iron city left behind.

This is the serious stuff.

"Most of the industrial equipment should be gone by the end of the day. But, Saturday is the real fun. Memorabilia," President and CEO Tim Hickman said.

A room full of memories is going on the clock.

"[The] snaptop, the innovation came from here, Pittsburgh company," Hickman said.

Hickman said items up for auction reflect a century and a half of innovation.

The memorabilia auction starts at 10 a.m. Saturday at the brewery building on Liberty Avenue in Lawrenceville.
