KD Country: Throw In The Towel
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―
The clock's ticking down. The time is at hand.
Hoist up the banner and strike up the band.
Steeleritis, that Pittsburgh affliction.
Requires fresh games to feed our addiction.
As the countdown continues, I would be remiss
If I passed up this chance to look back. Reminisce.
To retrace the highlights (this ought to be fun),
And once again savor that Super Bowl run.
Remember the Playoffs? The Chargers came in.
Santonio scored 'mid a thunderous din.
San Diego was finished. What's left to be said,
When a punt goes "kerplang" on a poor fellow's head.
Enter Ravens. Cold and callous. Darkening the Steelers' palace with their squawks of mirthful malice.
Purple birds we do deplore.
Two point lead. No time to wallow. Flacco's pass...to Polamalu! 'Twas a moment tough to swallow If you hail from Baltimore.
Quoth the Ravens, "Nevermore!"
Two down, one to go. The penultimate game,
And a run that will linger in Super Bowl fame.
James Harrison rumbles! Keeps spinning his wheels!
He dives for the touchdown, head over heels!
Some bad stuff then happened. Fast forward through that.
The Steelers regroup. No time to go flat.
One minute left! Big Ben on the run!
Holmes has it for six, in more ways than one.
That was then, this is now. We enter September.
The Titans are back. And yes, we remember
That moment of infamy. Moment most foul!
The day they besmirched the Terrible Towel.
The Curse of the Terrible Towel took hold
As the Titans collapsed in a post-season fold.
And now, as they face the Steeler eleven,
They're just the first step on our Stairway to Seven.
