KD Country: Pamela's Pancakes Goes International

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Pamela's is the place to go for pancakes, just ask President Obama.

The Obamas shared an order of strawberry pancakes on a local stop during the primary campaign, according to co-owner Gail Klingensmith.

"Mr. Rooney sat there, Mrs. Obama sat here, and the President sat here," said Klingensmith. "And I sat here, and out here were all the photographers."

Klingensmith and co-owner Pamela Cohen were later invited to serve lunch at the White House. Now, Pamela's Pancakes is going international.

Employee Daryl West says an aide to an undisclosed foreign leader stopped for breakfast and gave the food a good review.

"Maybe they can iron out some issues over some pancakes," said Kligensmith. "We're going to try and make the world a more peaceful place one pancake at a time."

Then, employee Michelle Mika, received a call requesting takeout.

"They're sending a secure car to pick the pancakes up, and then they'll be delivered and served at an undisclosed location," said Mika.

The undercover pancakes will be delivered Friday.

Meanwhile, Pamela's says they have an open door for delegates, and even pancake-loving protesters.
