PIAA Votes Down Proposal To Add Classifications

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― High school football in Pennsylvania will not be changing for at least three years.

The PIAA board voted 15-13 against a proposal to add two new classifications – AAAAA and AAAAAA.

If the measure had passed, the WPIAL playoffs in their current format would have been in jeopardy.

But Friday's decision preserves a 16-week schedule and championships at Heinz Field.
