The construction in downtown Pittsburgh isn't stopping Santa Claus from riding his sleigh into town this Friday when the city kicks off the holiday season.
Wednesday marked moving day for the big North Shore Connector project.
"All the materials you see in that grassy area across from Fifth Avenue Place, they will all be moved out of the way so that the Light Up Night events that happen there will occur," says Bob Grove, of the Port Authority.
Also, this year, the annual Santa Spectacular is not just rockin' around the Christmas tree, but also around the construction.
"Santa will have the famous fireballs back," says Marie Stover, of CBS Radio. "We actually have two new displays that he's lighting which are a secret."
He will also light the Unity Tree in Fifth Avenue Place.
While the construction supplies are moving down Stanwix Street, the stage will move to Liberty Avenue.
But promoters say it's actually a better spot, and they're encouraging families to get downtown early.
Officials say the festivities will include a variety of sponsored booths, which open at 3pm, an array of food and hot chocolate, as well as characters and games. The stage activities are expected to begin later in the evening.
