With less than a month until Christmas, you may be scratching your head wondering what to get for that person on your list who has everything.
Just turn to Dave King, formerly of QVC, who is spreading holiday cheer and great gift ideas as "Dr. Cool Tech."
One of Dr. Cool Tech's favorites this year is an Internet-based device called
Weather Direct that harnesses the power of the web to provide weather updates in a case that looks like a large, high-tech alarm clock.
"So if you're into the weather, in the morning this will actually wake you up. And it'll say 'Hello Dave, here's the forecast for Los Angeles.' It'll tell you the weather for the day for the next four days, it'll even tell you four other areas around the country or the world."
The device will also send you a text message or e-mail when there are weather alerts. Weather Direct runs around $150.
Another cool device, says Dr. Cool Tech, is the
Zoombak personal GPS which retails for $199 plus a monthly fee. The device, which is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, and be inserted into a pouch and attached to everything from your pet, to a loved one with Alzheimer's who tends to wander, even a teen that you want to track.
"Let's say she's going to Sally's house," explained Dr. Cool Tech. "You set up online a safe zone your home and Sally's home and when she arrives at Sally's home it sends you a text message and says she's arrived."
An inexpensive gift that Dr. Cool Tech likes is the
EZ Charge docking system, a charger for personal devices like cell phones and iPods that eliminates the problem of multiple cords cluttering up the room.
"It's very clever, very logical and very affordable, and this is under $10, so you are neatly wired with a great stocking stuffer."
Finally Dr. Cool Tech's favorite this year when it comes to creative gifts are the
personalized items you can create at any CVS store.
Simply upload your digital photographs at their in-store kiosks and you can create everything from personalized plates, bedding, backpacks -- even a photo cookie.
You can order your items at any CVS store and pick them up there to avoid shipping, or you can avoid the store all together and create your items online.
The deadline to order personalized photo items is December 11 to receive them in time for Christmas.
