Some Callers Reach Sex Line Instead Of Medicare

To contact the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, call: 1-800-633-4227

PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) ― Western Pennsylvania callers who want "Medicare Information" should not check the 2007 White Pages published by Verizon.  That's because the toll-free number listed in that directory is outdated - and instead links callers to a Philadelphia-based sex chat service.

Verizon spokeswoman Lisa Johnson says the error should not have occurred and that a correct Medicare number will be listed in the 2008 directory which will be distributed in March.

In the meantime, callers can contact the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services at: 1-800-633-4227.

Those looking specifically for information on Medicare Part A can call 215-563-4757; while those looking for information on Medicare Part B can call 1-866-488-0648.
