Nearly 500 children and their parents lined up at Edgeworth Elementary School in Sewickley for the H1N1 vaccine.
"We had to preregister. I got through on Sunday with the first phone call, and then we got into the building and it's very organized. I was really impressed," Heather Ponzo, mother of two children who were vaccinated, said.
There is some good news for concerned parents. On Wednesday, the Allegheny County Health Department announced the number of reported H1N1 flu cases is declining.
Dave Zazac, from the Allegheny County Health Department, said the county peaked on October 23.
"So we're seeing a drop but we don't know if it's going to rise up again," he said.
That's why parents say they're not taking any chances.
"They said it would peak at the end of October but if you have a chance to keep your kids safe, you do," Kathy Melisko, a mother of four, said.
"I'm still worried about it. It's still early in the season and I heard its midseason and it's kind of nice to know they're protected for the whole year," Bob Baycer, a father who had two sons vaccinated, said.
