Fewer Patients With Flu-Like Symptoms Going To ERs

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Fewer people are going to local emergency rooms with flu-like symptoms.

Dave Zazac from the Allegheny County Health Department says that in the last three days, the running average from eight area emergency rooms is down for patients with those symptoms.

Two weeks ago, about 17 percent of all emergency room visits were from people complaining of flu-like illnesses.

Since then, it has dropped to around 9 percent.

The question now is whether or not the area will see another wave of the flu.

Health officials are urging people to take advantage of seasonal flu and H1N1 vaccines when they become available.
