Family-Friendly Halloween Fun Around The Area

Halloween can be a lot of fun for kids and adults of all ages, but some attractions can be too scary for the younger ones.
Here is a list of where you can find some family-oriented Halloween fun:

Castle Blood Daylight Tours
Location: S.W. corner of PA at 2860 Main Street (Route 40), Beallsville, PA.
Directions: Getting There
Open: Sunday, Oct. 18 and 25

Cost: $5 per person
Description: Because the castle tours can be too intense for younger Halloween fans, Castle Blood opens their castle up for tours during the daytime. You will also get to play the Quest for the Talisman game, and trick or treat from friendly monsters.
Cheeseman's Pumpkin Festival
Location: Portersville at Cheeseman's Barn

Open: Sept. 19 - Oct. 31, Saturday and Sunday only
Hours: Noon-5pm
Cost: Hayrides - $4 per person, children 2 years and under are free when accompanied by an adult.
Description: Hayrides to the pumpkin patch, pet and feed farm animals and a hay maze. You can also buy pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn and other seasonal decorations.
Idlewild's HallowBoo
Location: Idlewild Park

Cost: $21.99 (kids 2 and under free)
Description: Trick or Treating through Story Book Woods, themed rides and attractions, Hay Bale Maze, Hedge Maze, concessions, Halloween decorations, costumed characters and family entertainment
KDKA ZooBoo for Kids' Sake
Location: Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium

Open: Oct. 17, 18, 24, 25
Hours: 11am-4pm
Cost: Regular zoo admission, Adults: $12, Seniors: $11, Children (2-13) $10, Children under 24 months are free
Description: Enjoy all the sights of the zoo and some Halloween fun too! There is a haunted house, a "not-so-spooky train ride," a costume parade
and contest and trick-or-treating.
Kids Day At The Farm

Cost: 1 & Under: Free (no pumpkin); Kids: $10 (includes one pumpkin and one apple); Adults: $5 with paying child

Description: The little red barn is filled with crafts and games and holds a lot of activities including: petting zoo, corn maze, hay rides, pumpkin patch, inflatable bouncy moon walk and more.
Kiski Junction Halloween Trains For Kids
Location: Leechburg/Schenley, Pa.

Open: Oct. 27, 29, 30 & 31
Hours: One hour train ride that starts at 7:30pm
Description: "Spooky, old-fashioned fun" that's recommended for ages 4-11.
