Steelers Huddle: Easy Breezy Chili

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― The weather is starting to get cooler and that means great football and great food. Be sure to try out Rania Harris' chili recipe before this weekend's game!

Easy – Breezy Chili

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 large onion - chopped
2 lean ground beef
1 jar Classico Fire Roasted Tomato and Garlic Sauce
1 - 12 oz can beer
2 jalapeno peppers - seeded and chopped
5 tablespoons chili powder
2 teaspoons paprika
1 teaspoon sugar
Salt and pepper to taste (cayenne pepper optional)
1 - 16 oz can black beans - drained and rinsed

Garnishes:
Shredded cheddar
Chopped red onion

Directions:

In a heavy 8 quart pot, heat oil. Sauté the onion and add the ground beef and brown well. Add the Classico Fire Roasted Tomato and Garlic sauce, beer, jalapeno peppers, and remaining seasonings and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat and simmer on medium-low, uncovered for about 45 minutes. Add drained beans and taste for seasoning. Season if needed and serve in pumpkin bowls for a special Halloween treat.

Garnish with cheese and onion.

Makes about 10 cups
