Heinz Red Zone Recipe: Deviled Fried Chicken

VIDEO:  Watch The Hines Ward Show Online

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Each week in the Heinz Red Zone on The PNC Hines Ward Show, Rania Harris puts together some great recipes that are sure to make your tailgating party a hit.

This week, she's making Deviled Fried Chicken with Steam 'n Mash!

Deviled Fried Chicken

8 cups all purpose flour
2 tablespoons paprika
4 teaspoons cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon salt

4 cups milk
4 eggs - beaten

16 pieces cut up chicken
Vegetable oil for frying

1Bag Steam 'n Mashed Potatoes (made according to package directions)
2 Jars Heinz Chicken Gravy

Refrigerator biscuits (make according to package directions)

DIRECTIONS:
Mix first 4 ingredients in a large bowl. Whisk eggs and milk in another large bowl. Dredge the chicken pieces in the flour mixture, shaking off the excess. Dip in the milk mixture, allowing the excess to drip into the bowl. Dredge in the flour mixture.

Heat oil in an electric skillet to 350 degrees. Cook the chicken (in batches) skinned side down. Oil should bubble around chicken. Fry for 20 minutes, turning occasionally. The chicken should be cooked through and the juices should run clear when pierced with a skewer. Transfer chicken to paper toweling to drain. Reheat oil to 350 degrees and repeat frying process with remaining chicken.

Bake biscuits according to package directions. Heat Heinz Chicken Gravy until hot through. Serve chicken immediately with hot biscuits and gravy.

Serves: 8

Note: Chicken may be made ahead and reheated, uncovered, on a parchment lined cookie sheet in a 350 degree oven until crisp and warmed through.
