Heinz Red Zone Recipe: Grilled Chicken Wings

VIDEO:  Watch The Hines Ward Show Online

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Each week in the Heinz Red Zone on The PNC Hines Ward Show, Rania Harris puts together some great recipes that are sure to make your tailgating party a hit.

This week, she's making Grilled Chicken Wings!

Grilled Chicken Wings

¾ cup kosher salt
¾ cup sugar
12 whole chicken wings (about 2 1/2 pounds)
1 – 20 ounce bottle Heinz 57 sauce for basting

Condiments:
Heinz 57 Sauce
Blue Cheese Dressing
Celery Sticks
Frank's Red Hot Sauce

DIRECTIONS:

Cut the wings in half at the joint. Discard the tips.

Dissolve the salt and sugar in 1 quart of cold water in a gallon zipper lock plastic bag.

Add the chicken and press out as much air as possible from the bag and seal.

Refrigerate until fully seasoned, 30 minutes.

Remove the chicken wings from the brine and rinse well. Dry thoroughly with paper towels and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Heat grill to medium high and grill the wings – basting often with the Heinz 57 Sauce and turning occasionally until cooked through and golden brown.

Or: Spread the wings in a single layer on a heavy baking pan. Bake the wings in a preheated 425 degree oven - uncovered - for 25 minutes.

Midway through the baking process, baste the wings liberally with the Heinz 57 sauce. They should be cooked through and golden brown.

Serve with the wings with a bowl of Heinz 57 sauce as a dipping sauce
