Heinz Red Zone Recipe: Hot Sausage Sandwiches

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Each week in the Heinz Red Zone on The PNC Hines Ward Show, Rania Harris puts together some great recipes that are sure to make your tailgating party a hit.

This week, she's making Hot Sausage Sandwiches!

Hot Sausage Sandwiches
8 Jumbo Sweet or Hot Italian Sausages
2 large Vidalia Onions – sliced
2 tablespoons olive oil
Salt and Pepper to taste
1 jar Classico Tomato and Basil Sauce
8 sausage bread rolls - toasted
Parmesan cheese (optional)

DIRECTIONS:
Heat gas grill to medium high heat. Grill sausages until cooked through and browned.

Meanwhile, heat olive oil in a large saucepan and sauté onions until soft. Season with salt and pepper

In a large saucepan, heat the Classico Tomato and Basil sauce. Add in the grilled sausages. Split sausage bread rolls and place one grilled sausage in each roll and top with a generous amount of the Classico Tomato and Basil Sauce. Top with sautéed onions and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese. Serve immediately.

Serves: 8
