Rania's Recipes From Pittsburgh Today Live (9/28)

(KDKA) On this week's Pittsburgh Today Live and The Hines Ward Show, Rania is whipping up two foods perfect for watching the Steelers take on any opponent!

Country Spareribs

4 pounds pork ribs
Salt and pepper to taste
2? cups crushed pineapple – drained
1 cup Heinz Ketchup
? cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup Heinz White Vinegar
? cup soy sauce
? teaspoon ginger
? teaspoon dry mustard
? teaspoon garlic powder

DIRECTIONS:

Cut the pork ribs into serving-size portions. Place in a deep baking dish. Season with salt and pepper. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

Remove the pork ribs and drain. Set aside. In a mixing bowl combine the crushed pineapple, ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, ginger, dry mustard, and garlic powder. Blend thoroughly. Spoon generous amounts of sauce over the pork ribs.

Prepare a barbeque. Remove the ribs from the sauce. Grill the ribs over hot coals. Grill each side evenly until brown or until the meat tests done. Brush all sides of the ribs with the remaining sauce.

Serves 4



Rania's Baked Beans

6 strips thick sliced bacon - cut into slivers
2 cups chopped onions
1 green bell pepper - chopped
2 cloves of garlic - chopped
3 cans (16 oz each) Heinz vegetarian beans, rinsed and drained
1/3 cup molasses
? cup original #7 Jack Daniels Grilling Sauce
? cup Heinz Hot n' Spicy Ketchup Kick'rs
? cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons Lea and Perrins Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon Heinz dark brown mustard
1 tablespoon dry mustard
2 tablespoons Heinz cider vinegar
? tablespoon liquid smoke - or to taste
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

DIRECTIONS:

In a heavy pot, cook the bacon over medium heat to render the fat.

Add the onion, pepper and garlic and cook until the vegetables are soft, about 5 minutes.

Stir n the beans, molasses, Jack Daniels sauce, Hot n' Spicy Ketchup Kickers, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, brown mustard, dry mustard, cider vinegar and liquid smoke. Simmer the beans, uncovered, until rich and thickly flavored, 10 - 15 minutes, stirring with a wooden spoon.

You may also place the beans in a baking dish and bake them in a pre-heated 350 degree oven for about 30 minutes.

Season to taste with salt and pepper.

Serves: 6
