4pm Producer Natalie's Casseroles
(Recipes from Natalie's mom Theresa Voithofer!)
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―
Casseroles are popular for many family get-togethers because they're easy to make and taste great!
KDKA-TV News at 4:00pm Producer Natalie Voithofer couldn't decide on just one of her mother's casseroles... she got the recipes for two of her holiday favorites: a pineapple casserole and a broccoli casserole!
Pineapple Casserole:
3 eggs (beaten)
2 T. flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup crushed pineapple
4 slices of bread (diced)
1/4 lb. butter (melted)
Preheat oven to 350. Grease a baking dish. Mix eggs, flour, sugar and pineapple. Pour in greased baking dish. Top with diced bread, pour melted butter over bread and bake uncovered for 45 minutes or until top is golden brown. Recipe can be doubled. Broccoli Casserole:
2 cups Minute rice
2 cups water
1 stick margarine
3/4 cup chopped onion
3/4 cup chopped celery
2 cloves garlic (chopped)
2 boxes of frozen chopped broccoli
2 cans cream of mushroom soup
1 large jar Cheese Whiz
Mix all ingredients in greased baking dish, cover and bake at 350 for one hour, or longer, until rice is as done as you like it. (Note: after 15-20 minutes of baking, take out and stir. Once it is warm, it will mix better)
