Officials: No Parking On Bridges For Fireworks

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― If you plan to watch the fireworks show in Pittsburgh on July 4, authorities have a warning for you.

State Police say after 9 p.m. Saturday, inbound Fort Pitt Tunnel traffic will be detoured.

There will be no parking on bridges, ramps or interstates. Violators will be cited and unattended cars will be towed at the owner's expense.

Additional State troopers will be patrolling the area to make sure traffic moves.

The city is trying to make it easier to park even though it would be a walk to Point State Park to see the fireworks.

The Pittsburgh Parking Authority says parking at the new Grant Street Transportation Parking Garage at Grant and Liberty next to the bus station will be free Saturday night.

Meantime, the folks at Pyrotecnico are getting ready too. They have six-inch diameter fireworks that can shoot up 400 feet to 500 feet in the air.

An arched device in the fireworks display promises to wow the crowd, they say.
