Economy Having Impact On July 4th Travel Plans
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―
There continue to be signs that the struggling economy is negatively affecting the travel plans of some Pittsburghers this 4th of July weekend.
A survey in the Pittsburgh Tribune Review shows that fewer people say they will drive or fly over the next few days.
Officials with AAA say that nearly seven percent of all Pennsylvanians will travel by air this holiday.
But one good piece of news for the holiday weekend is that gas prices are dramatically down from the last 4th of July.
AAA reports that the average price per gallon of regular unleaded gas is $2.66 in the Pittsburgh area.
That's up five cents from last week, but is still a third less than this time last year, when it hit a record high of $4.03.
