An American automaker has two models ranked as being among the most reliable cars in the world, according to Consumer Reports.
Executives with Ford call it a big honor and they're hoping it will drive more buyers into their showrooms.
The Ford Fusion and its twin, the Mercury Milan, were ranked highest among the most reliable family sedans on the road. They fared better than the Honda Accord and the Toyota Camry.
"Clearly, we're going to work very hard each month to earn our customers' business," Mark Fields, executive vice president of Ford Motor Company, said.
Another Detroit automaker, Chrysler, ended up at the bottom of the rankings, but one model did make the list -- the Dodge Ram 1500.
"While this is good news for the Chrysler Group, we understand that there is still much work to do," the company' senior vice president said in a statement.
Chrysler needs to sell more cars as it struggles to find a way out of bankruptcy. This year's reliability survey isn't likely to help because many drivers pay close attention to the rankings.
"I think that that someone took the time to do the research to make my decision better is helpful," Dan Cooperstein, a driver, said.
He says it's helpful to know which cars made the grade.
