Pennsylvania's Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program helps to provide cash grants for home heating as well as crisis grants to address heating emergencies. The enrollment period officially opened on Monday.
"There are many Pennsylvania families struggling to make ends meet in this economy, and the arrival of LIHEAP cash grants will be a much needed boost for low-income families," Sen. Sean Logan said when the enrollment date was announced. "I encourage everyone that is eligible for a cash grant to make sure to apply for this assistance."
Those who enroll will have to provide some information including: proof of income, a recent bill or statement from fuel company that shows what kind of fuel they use and household size.
For those wishing to enroll in the program, applications will be available at county assistance offices, local utility companies and community service agencies. The application for cash grants is also available online at
www.compass.state.pa.us.
Household sizes and income limits for LIHEAP's 2009-10 season are listed below.
1 -- $16,245
2 -- $21,855
3 -- $27,465
4 -- $33,075
5 -- $38,685
6 -- $44,295
7 -- $49,905
8 -- $55,515
