Does It Really Do That: Pressa Bella

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Ironing is one of those chores that no one really likes.

So, when the Pressa Bella promised to cut your ironing time in half, we had to put it to the test to see if it really does that!

The first set-back is the price --- $80 plus shipping and handling.

The second problem is that it weighs close to five pounds -- about twice the weight of an actual iron.

Pressa Bella comes with a small water beaker.

The directions say to use exactly the right amount of water.

There's also a special twisting tool to tighten and loosen the water cap and a non-slip pad for the iron to sit on while it heats up face down.

Directions say wait four or five minutes before use.

That's a long time for our volunteer, Stephanie Jasper.

"If I want to iron something, I want to iron it quickly," she said. "If I have to wait for five minutes, by that point, I will find something else to wear."

Once the Pressa Bella is ready to go, we put it to the test on a pair of pants.

At first, it just spits out water instead of steam.

When the steam finally did come out, the Pressa Bella did a great job.

But, once we got the steam to work, the Pressa Bella ran out of water.

It was no easy task refilling it and then waiting for it to heat up again.

Jasper wasn't impressed.

"I'm thinking this is a lot of effort to iron a pair of pants," said Jasper. "If I just used my regular iron, I could be done in half the time."

We tried again with similar results.

So, we asked Jasper "Does it really do that?"

She responded, "No, I would use my regular iron over this iron. I don't think it's worth it."
