Does It Really Do That: MXZ Saw

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― The MXZ Saw claims you can throw out all those bulky, cumbersome cutting tools because the saw will cut through just about anything, but does it really do that?

If you believe this commercial, the MXZ Saw is nothing short of miraculous and it puts other tools to shame. It's a tool Tom and Deb Pollok could use. In addition to other projects around the house, the Pollocks design architectural pieces for other peoples' homes.

"In any one piece, whether it's a fireplace or a countertop, there might be stainless steel, glass tile, copper brass, so we're cutting all kinds of things," Tom Pollock said.

We start with cast stone, a soft limestone, and the MXZ Saw does seem to work. Tom says it has a good feel to it and it's a solid tool.

We move on to the glass bottle. This time, Deb gives it a shot. It doesn't appear to be working too well on the glass.

Next, we try a ceramic cup, which was used in the commercial for the saw. It doesn't do well with this item either.

We tried it on a copper pipe, and after a lot of effort, it did cut through.

But it didn't work well on wood and brick.

It turns out, there's hardly anything you can do with it, at least anytime soon.

To be fair, the MXZ Saw claims to fold up and store nicely and it does. It claims it won't cut you and it doesn't. The problem is it doesn't cut much else either. So, this product doesn't really cut it.
