Does It Really Do That? - LawnBott

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― For many people mowing the grass is one household chore they try to avoid.

But now, a new technological breakthrough promises to cut down the amount of time you have to do lawn work.

The LawnBott uses a transmitter and a battery charger to automatically mow your grass.

But before LawnBott goes to work, there's some set up to do.

It works a little like an invisible fence for dogs.

You lay down a wire around your lawn -- a plastic peg anchors the wire every eighteen inches or so.

For our test, we prepared a 12 foot area.

LawnBott representative John Tarvin says your yard doesn't have to be flat.

"The LawnBott can maintain slopes of up to 27 inches -- steeper than you would be comfortable pushing a lawn mower," said Tarvin.

The LawnBott isn't just a hard worker, it's smart too.

It's designed to come out of its home very couple of days so your grass never gets too long.

But What if it rains?

"The LawnBott has rain sensors so the LawnBott will go home and take a nap and come out the next day," said Tarvin.

The robot is especially environmentally friend.

It uses rechargeable battery powered.

The downside about the LawnBott is the price -- depending on the model, the LawnBott costs anywhere from $1,700 to $2,400.
