Alcohol Sales Up Despite Economic Slowdown

HARRISBURG, Pa. (CBS) ― Despite the economic slowdown, sales at Pennsylvania's state-owned liquor stores are not dropping.

In fact a Liquor Control Board spokesman says year-to-date liquor sales through the end of May show a 4.8 percent increase from a year ago.

Retailers say customers are cutting back on going to restaurants, bars and nightclubs and are buying alcohol for consumption at home.
