Swivel Sweeper: Does It Really Do That?
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―
You've seen it on television
the swivel sweeper. It's supposed to be easier than a broom and it's said that it will take the place of your dust pan. But for $40, we wanted to know -- does it really do that? If anyone can use some help keeping the floors clean, it's Sherri Cicconi. She is always looking for something to clean the floor with her three boys, two dogs and a cat. To Cicconi it sounded like the "As Seen on TV" Swivel Sweeper would do the job. It claims to work on all kinds of floors... but does it really do that? "I have to admit I'm probably a little skeptical," said Cicconi. "I have tried a lot of these and they end up in my garage corner."
The Swivel Sweeper comes in pieces and was easy enough to assemble. First, KDKA Consumer Editor Yvonne Zanos and Cicconi tried the Kix cereal test on carpet and then loose dog food. The Swivel Sweeper worked well on the carpeted areas. Then it was time to try it out on dog hair. The Swivel Sweeper's results with dog hair on the hardwood floors were a little disappointing
But does the Swivel Sweeper live up to the hype?
Cicconi says the Swivel Sweeper worked well on the carpeted areas -- but not as well on the hardwood floors. Cicconi said, "The only thing I don't like is how it kind of spits some things back out.," she said. "If you pick it up, it spits out some of the stuff it picked up. That is my only criticism." The bottom line is that for $40 it is a very good buy.
