Does It Really Do That: Mighty Putty

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Mighty Putty promises to fill, fix, seal and repair almost anything in your house. It also claims to have the muscle to support up to 350 pounds.

But does it really do that? KDKA's Consumer Editor Yvonne Zanos and Chris Jackson along with his contracting crew put Mighty Putty to the test.

As they put Mighty Putty to the test, they say it easily slices with a plastic knife, but the process of kneading it gets a little tough.

The instructions say that Mighty Putty isn't ready to use until the green and white mixture is uniform, and our tester finds that it is a slow going process and the product gives off a bad smell.

However, once Mighty Putty is ready, our testers say it really works.

They say it not only fixes the broken handle on a cup, but it also stands up to drilling, sanding, hammering as well as under water pressure.

Our testers also try several other strength tests, and find that when Mighty Putty goes on, it stays and holds.

However, the only thing our testers say they couldn't get the product to do was seal the hole in a plastic cup like in the infomercial.

Overall, Jackson says though he was skeptical at first, he is impressed by Mighty Putty.

"It has multiple usages. It's at the ready. It does have strength. It's moldable, sand-able; it's a workable product," he said.
