Buying a new car can be a complicated process, especially when you want to be sure the money you're spending is worth your purchase.
Every year, the Center for Auto Safety collects information on the cars we drive and the problems we have with them.
Then, car Guru Jack Gillis takes that real world information and puts together a list of cars that are the best bets for consumers in the market for a new vehicle.
Experts explain that a combination of things determines whether or not a car will make it onto the list.
Some of the criteria include, customer satisfaction for a particular car, roll over tests, fuel efficiency, whether or not a car has the kind of features the public wants, and the fewest complaints made by consumers who bought the car per thousand vehicles.
Also, experts add that as gas prices continue to gouge budgets, more drivers are turning away from minivans and big SUVs to cross over vehicles.
Now, one local Lemon Law attorney is weighing in on that list.
Attorney, Craig Kimmel, says that the Toyota Camry is always a good bet to end up on the best bets list.
"They need a good family car," he says. "They need a good business vehicle. They want something that they are not going to have to worry about it. They are going to get in the car, it's going to start."
According to the Best Buys list, other best bets in the intermediate size category are the Honda Accord, the Chevy Malibu and the Ford Fusion.
Kimmel says that we should be on watch for what he calls some up and coming stiff competition from Korea in the form of the Kia Optima and the Hyundai Sonata.
"They have attacked the issues that the American public has said that they need, which is high quality, reliability and ease of repair," he says. "Now, they are not perfect, but they've notched up considerably every single year."
The list also offers this year's best bets in the SUV midsize category as the Toyota Highlander, the Infinity FX, and the Subaru Outback.
