Tips To Save Big Bucks On Vegas Trip
One way to find a bargain on a Vegas getaway is to check for special offers on the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority website (Click here)
LAS VEGAS (KDKA) ―
The bright lights of Las Vegas appeal to many people in Western Pennsylvania.
The gambling, the big shows and more make it a top vacation destination.
But what if you could travel there for less?
Jim and Billie Jean Morosetti from North Fayette went to Las Vegas to celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary.
"We come every year," said Billie Jean Morosetti . "We just love the excitement here. There's so much to do."
But not even Sin City is recession proof.
"Oh, we're definitely feeling the economy's effects in Las Vegas," said Alan Feldman, of the
MGM Mirage, which has ten hotels in Las Vegas alone.
"People are spending less, not necessarily fewer people coming yet, but those who are coming are clearly watching their budgets," said Feldman.
So casino resorts are upping the ante by offering bargains.
Terry Jicinsky, from the
Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, says fewer people are attending conventions in Vegas.
"There are some better deals on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of the week due to fewer convention attendees," said Jicinsky.
Sean Lynch, from Latrobe, went to Las Vegas for a convention.
"Yes, a little less expensive both air and hotels," he said.
For example, the
Monte Carlo has an on-line deal where you pay $80 for your room, you get a $25 dining credit, a $5 Starbucks credit, a $10 gaming credit plus coupons for the food court.
At the
Tropicana, you can get a room for as low as $49 on some nights.
And Sunday through Thursday you can get a room at
Circus Circus for as low as $45 on some nights.
Nancy Wissner, from Wexford, found a deal at the
Imperial Palace that included airfare.
"It was $400 for room and your flight for the weekend," said Wissner. "We flew in late Thursday night like 1 o'clock in the morning and then we leave Sunday night on the red eye."
Caesar's Palace has a deal for a one night double occupancy room with two tickets to Elton John's show and two drinks for $642.
We found that package on-line which brings us to our first tip.
Try the
convention and visitors authority website. Click on special offers for a list of deals on the strip, downtown and elsewhere.
The second tip is to be flexible on your dates.
There are some cases where if you pick just the right days and just the right hotel, you can find a 40 or 45 percent savings over the exact same hotel a week before or a week later.
And finally, if you have favorite hotel, you may want to consider registering through its website for email alerts on deals.
While there's no guarantee you'll come back from Las Vegas a winner, if you play it right, you might be able to save some bucks.
