Stamping Out Credit Card Mail Offers
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―
You've heard of the "Do Not Call" list for phone numbers? Now there's a "do not mail" list to stop credit card offers from making it into your mailbox.
Getting rid of those pre-approved credit card offers could increase your chances of becoming a victim of identity theft.
Now the big four credit reporting companies Equifax, Experian, Innovis, and TransUnion -- have established a website that lets consumers "opt out."
The companies then offer your information to the credit card companies that issue those pre-approved mailings stopping them from making their way to your mailbox.
By signing up, you can decide to stop getting those pre-approved credit card offers by mail for five years or stamp them out altogether.
Don't worry, if you "opt out" permanently, but change your mind, you can "opt in" again on the same website:
OptOutPrescreen.com.
