Stamping Out Credit Card Mail Offers

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― You've heard of the "Do Not Call" list for phone numbers? Now there's a "do not mail" list to stop credit card offers from making it into your mailbox.

Getting rid of those pre-approved credit card offers could increase your chances of becoming a victim of identity theft.

Now the big four credit reporting companies – Equifax, Experian, Innovis, and TransUnion -- have established a website that lets consumers "opt out."

The companies then offer your information to the credit card companies that issue those pre-approved mailings – stopping them from making their way to your mailbox.

By signing up, you can decide to stop getting those pre-approved credit card offers by mail for five years – or stamp them out altogether.

Don't worry, if you "opt out" permanently, but change your mind, you can "opt in" again on the same website: OptOutPrescreen.com.
