Nation's Largest Consignment Sale Opens Here

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― If you're looking for ways to stretch your dollars and get the most for your money, you may want to head to Neville Island for a special two-day sale on everything from clothing and toys to furniture.

The group, Just Between Friends, is sponsoring the nation's largest family consignment event at the RMU Island Sports Center on Friday and Saturday.

Just Between Friends Co-owner Kristin Krausel says over 100 consigners are participating in the event. "We actually panicked last week -- we had an overwhelming number of consigners," Krausel adds. "We did cut them off just so we could have a pleasant shopping experience here."

People can save money and make money," explains Michelle Hall of Pine Township, "but also we get to partner with the Pittsburgh Women's Center and Shelter and they get to benefit from it. And then we are also recycling so we're supporting that as well."

Two local mothers started the local Just Between Friends franchise that specializes in children's and maternity consignment.

Organizers say shoppers will find great prices on first-rate items. "All the clothing is inspected for stains," Krausel explains. "It can't be worn. It can't have any holes in it. It has to be current fashions and really ready to sell when it gets here."

The sale will be held this Friday (10/23) and Saturday (10/24) in the upper level of the Island Sports Center on Neville Island.

It will be open from 9am until 8pm on Friday and from 8am until 8pm on Saturday. Shoppers looking for even bigger bargains may want to wait until after 1pm on Saturday – when many items will be half-price!

Once the sale ends, the group plans to donate many of the remaining items to the Pittsburgh Women's Center and Shelter.
