Suspect Allegedly Planned Rape Of RMU Student

MOON TWP. (KDKA) ― A Robert Morris University student was brutally raped and beaten in her off-campus townhouse Thursday night.

A police affidavit says that the rape suspect told his victim he has been planning to attack her for a week and had been writing about it in his journal.

When police arrived around 8 p.m. they found the victim outside her apartment with facial injuries and having trouble breathing.

She was rushed to Sewickley Valley Hospital.

She told police 22-year-old Damilola Adewale, who had been subletting her roommate's room in their condo, raped her twice and threatened to kill her.

Police found Adewale, a native of Nigeria, nearby holding a cord that he admitted he used to try to strangle the victim.

Adewale, a former Robert Morris student, faces charges of rape, attempted homicide and aggravated assault. He is in the Allegheny County jail.

The victim is at home with her family.

A Robert Morris University spokesman says Adewale has not been enrolled as a student since last fall.

He says the school will support the victim in any way they can.
